Tangentially related: is there any reason now for showing the distinction
between [z3|z5|z8|...] files in the filename, when most people won't care,
and if you do it's trivial to make the distinction? Was there ever?
Maybe we could do a blanket extension change:
.z3 }
.z5 } -> .z-g
.z8 }
.sav -> .z-s
